What Distributions are we all using??? Why did you choose what you did?

I'll start. I'm using Slackware 4 currently, but I'll be blowing it all away to do a fresh install of Slack 7 this weekend.

My reasoning for using Slackware is easy. I like the name . What's more, my Father in Law has used it for about 6 years, so I get all the free support I can handle.

Besides, it's so cool to say "I'm a Slacker..."

Sure, I have a thankless job. That's okay. I have a lot of karma to burn off.

I just ordered mine today from Corel. Reasons:
1. I read in PC World that it is supposed to be better, easier, than other versions.
2. Corel is a big company that makes other software for Linux.
3. I already use WordPerfect.

I've been using RedHat because:

1. I found the distribution on my own FTP server. (I had just taken over the job)

2. I had read about RedHat in the mags, and I found little negativity about it.

I'm not opposed to other distros, but I am biased towards RH because I'm familiar with it.

And I don't think I would like calling myself a 'slacker.'

Well, so far mine'll be PhatLinux whenever I finish downloading it (It's a 170mb download!). The reason: I don't have to repartition my HD. And I can keep Windows on. I'm not gonna leave Windows just yet, because I've still got a lot of software for it. I do have a question though: since I'm not finished downloading PhatLinux yet, is there anything I should know first before I install it? Like what I should do to keep Windows on or stuff like that?

Im using RH Linux. I started learning about a year and a half ago with release 5.1. I didn't really take some serious focus until 5.2 when I started working for an ISP that used that release as well. I'm continuing to use RH 6.1 today. I started with RH because I was told by many resources that RH was one of the easier Linux distributions to learn as a newbie. I'm still clinged on RH as I am most familiar with it.... still and always learning new things!
