Actually, I've never heard of PhatLinux, let me know how you like it.
I've also seen
ZipSlack which is a distribution that you download as a Winzip file, and extract it to a folder. You use the dos loader "LOADLIN" to boot it, and it's only a 35 meg download.
As far as a tutorial or documentation, I would start at
www.linuxdoc.org, by far the best documentation website for Linux that exists.
