Question Solved: Outlook Express Question
I have an Outlook Express identity that I'd like to keep using. I have everything set up the way I want it. The company I work for has required that I change my email address to reflect the company's new name. I have created an additional email address through my ISP. How can I continue to use this Outlook Express identity, keeping everything the same, but change the email address used to send and receive email with this identity?

Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen,

You just need to edit the Account information.
In OE, click File>Work Offline.
Click Tools>Accounts>Mail tab.
Highlight the Account you want to change and click the Properties button.
On the General tab, change the user information to reflect the new address and click Apply.
On the Server tab, change the account name to reflect the new e-mail address and change the password to the the new one.
If the new address is thru the same ISP, the server settings can be left as is.
Click Apply and OK.
Click File>Work Offline to remove the check mark.
Restart OE and the new address should be set up in the Identity.

If you want to keep and use the old E-mail address, just set up the new address as a New Account in the Identity, rather than editing it.
Tools>Accounts>Mail tab>New.
You can use Message Rules to direct the mail from each account into separate folders.

Oh my gosh, Throoper! You have no idea how much work you've just saved me. It took just a couple minutes. I never knew this could be done, but took a chance and asked. I thought I'd need to create a new identity, make new folders, adjust all the settings, create the message rules, and import all my emails, and probably much more work. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Now I can go enjoy the rest of my day instead of all that tedious work.
