I deleted the file yiclkxrta.exe after my
virus checker (Innoculate) disabled it due to a trojan. Now I cant start any applications. What do I do?

Do NOT post your question more than once. It will not help you in any way, but may lead to the deleting of your account.

You had a subseven trojan. You need to reinstall Windows to get yourself back up and running correctly.

You need to do this from DOS because windows will not let you run the SETUP.EXE program.

Do you know how to run the Windows installation from DOS or do you need help?

Didn't mean to imply I was about to delete it. Repeated multiple posts can cause it - not just one.

Ok - to install from DOS is a two step process.

#1 - get your Windows files copied to your hard drive. This may already be done for you though. They would be in c:\windows\options\cabs. At boot press F8 and choose Command Prompt only to get to a C prompt. From there type CD\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS then type DIR SET*.* to see if it is there.

If it is, #2 is just to type SETUP and let it install. If it isn't, you will need a DOS boot disk with your CDROM drivers on it so we can get to the files. Do you have one?

Since you're at the reinstall phase, you might as well try a registry fix that might get your exe association back.

Go to <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/plansdowne_ca/" TARGET="_new">THIS</A> site and download FixEXE.ZIP.

Unzip it to your C:\Windows folder and then go to Run and type fixEXE.reg

Worth a shot!

I'm going to archive this one. I had been thinking along the lines of someone who had a non-working computer, and thus wouldn't be able to download a file.

Obviously since you were on the net you had access to another machine.

Glad you are back up and running, and without the hassle of what I had suggested.
