How people are finding us Sticky thread
What about putting a sticky in the Introductions forum or a text box on the registration form to inquire into how people are finding this site?

And how many newbies read the stickes actually?

How about a separate forum with a list of questionnaires? The users can reply in Thumbs up or down like this or add a new point.

I'm sure most people are finding the site by Googling a specific error message... but it'd be interesting to find out. Maybe we could quiz people who post in Introductions? Or start a thread there with a poll and ask people to vote?

In my opinion, this sounds better.
But how do we inform the posters that there is a poll?
Besides, not every new user posts in the Introduction...

How about a link to the poll (or the entire poll, if possible) in the Welcome guide?
That's the page one sees immediately after registration, right?

Yup, that would work -- also, we could include a link to it in the Welcome email that is sent after they register. I think there is already a link to the Introductions forum in that.

I'm going to create the poll in Introductions. What options should we have?

Google
Other Search
Friend or Family
Magazine or Newspaper Article
Other?
