Microsoft Outlook 2007
So i have a laptop running outlook 2007 and i seem to be running into many problems with general software issues along with IMAP issues.
Right now i am trying to move all of the folders in my archive to IMAP folder by folder... (IF anyone knows an easier method to do this i would love to know ) Takes forever but I will not blame the program for that. It was working out decently at first now i keep getting spammed with an error "Failed to update headers"
The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server
protocol : imap
server: imap.secureserver.net
port: 143

But in general outlook just seems to always run very slow. even on my desktop which is a lot faster then the laptop

Two more problems i just ran into while moving folders:
1. error telling me that the folder is a duplicate and can not move (When there is no other folder with the same name or email's) "CAnnot move items. The server responded: Database failure occurred, possible duplicate folder"
2. telling me the folder does not exist.

Any antivirus software that may be causing the issue? I am not sure if most av software can handle IMAP or not

What server are you trying to move the email folder around on?

As for the slowness, the imap folder are not really in Outlook but on the imap server.
I do NOT use Outlook for the imap accounts, I use Live mail for those and it seems to be OK in speed.

As for Outlook, empty your deleted folder and the sent folder. As your PST file gets fuller it is going to take longer to load and move around in.

Bottom line, get rid of everything you DO NOT have to have, empty the deleted folder, and then compact the pst file.

Thanks for the response, I figured that was causing the slowness. But my main issue is that when I am moving most emails i am getting errors claiming failed to update headers. What is causing this?

Are you moving "Imap" types of email?

If so, have a read at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...001004602.aspx

Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and etc are IMAP (Internet mail) programs.

The other type POP are ones that require that you use a program such as Outlook.
Some POP mail provider also provide a "internet" access to the mail servers.

Well my situation is my client has a laptop, desktop, iphone, ipad and wants his emails and attachments and everything in sync with each other. So I just finished moving all his archived emails into the IMAP folder i created but it still popped with a lot of errors and now im seeing that the attachments which were regularly .jpg or .pdf are now .wda and can't be viewed? Not sure what exactly these files are now or if there is a way to retrieve them.
