The only thing I need to know now is, next season there will be different venues.
that can be done and added to the code - BUT what will be the maximum courses - as that will also be a factor to add into the sheet to make it robust

i'm also looking at how the 50 players maybe added across the sheets -
is this a waste of time - would more than 30 people play - so player in position 31 - 50 - if played would get zero points

its looking more like a macro to simplifiy -

but Have a look at rutland here - and if you change the name of the sheet that should flow through to the pivot table and the leadership board
That just a trail to change name and add 50 players - but still a work in progress

if setup with the maximum number of courses - they would just appear in the leadership sheet as say C1,C2,C3,C4 (COURSE 1 , COURSE2) and you can then hide those columns

whats the scenario where more than 30 people play - ?

well, i think this could be full of errors

Now the name of the sheet is used to populate the pvottable and the Leadership sheet
so you can change the sheet name and it will update the leadership sheet and work

I have also added 4 sheets called C1 , C2, C3 and C4
so you can have another 4 courses added to the league and it works

Also if more than 30 players play - you enter there score as -1 -2 -3 etc - and that way they get added to the leadsership table as zero 0 points for that course - so they can see they played but not in the top 30

so a zero on the leadership table - means they played and scored no points - but by adding the - numbers that keeps the order correct - so those who have not played are below those who scored zero on a course
i think

for the sheet name to go through - I have used a cell on column J on the course tables and also uses J to lookup the points from 30 to -20 and that can be hidden
the leadership sheet titles are also updated from the name of the sheet - so thats cells C4 , D4 etc - so watch that if you overtype

loads of formulas all over the sheets using hidden cells - so be careful what you change

in theory only the golfers sheet

HI

I cant believe the amount of work you are putting into this for me!

THere are no plans to go above thirty players. There is always the possibilty of one more event, although this also is unlikely. The seven or eight events would cover spring to early winter & then golf is not a good sport when your freezing cold, so I cant see any more events being played. Our season runs from March to September maximum.
If anything there will be fewer golfers than thirty this year, but who knows next year, I dont think it will go much above thirty as its too many people to manage.

I am so grateful for all of your efforts, is there anything I can give you to pay you for al of your time?

I have saved all of the versions of table to use in the future, for this season coming sheet 5 I think seems to work for the amount of players perfectly, but I am having a toy around with the others. The only problem with more golfers is we always have a longest drive & nearest the pin.
Putting more golfers in moves this to the side & then It goes onto another sheet when I HTML code it.

Thank you so much!!!!

HI

Probably best to stick to thirty maximum. Thats where the thirty points comes from regardless of how many actually turn up to the events.
Could you make sheet 8 for just thirty players please with all of the fixes.

I have kept alll sheets so far, to try to understand how you are creating this, just in case I need to change anything in the future. I am an engineer by profession, but computers are a little lame for me.

I copy each result sheet into a web site I use to show the golfers the results, I also email it out to them. I do this by copying & pasting & it changes it to basic HTML code. generally it keeps the format the same. Thats why it is sized the way it is, the only problem I get is I have to change into landscape to make the leaderboard fit, then change bacck after I have pasted it.

If you wanted to have a look at what I am talking about click http://www.golfshake.com/user/blog/2...GUE_TABLE.html

Some of the golfers play in winter, this is not part of the normal season but gives you an idea of what I do with the spreadsheets etc.

So in summary, thirty players eight events should cover the normal options.

With this in mind, just go through once more about changing the event names for next season, I will then add a sheet to the spreadsheet, copy & paste your further instructions, I know I will forget by this time next year!!!

Thank you
David

which is sheet 8 ?

the last version I just hid all the rows and sheets (so now it only shows the 30 golfers and the 8 events - so if you needed to add next year more players or more events you can - its all there and works

you can copy the Date and Pin info back to the bottom of the sheets to suite you layout on html

have a play with version 9 above and see what you think

you could try a dummy as it is
and then unhide a couple of sheets and add more events

you can change the points as well - thats used on to look up on each course sheet on column j

happy to go through how it all works - if you have a play ...

just ask any questions and we can work through what each formula is doing and why

I'm not around much during the week though - and pretty brain dead at the moment as i have just started a new contract and so its quite demanding during the discovery stage of the project and this one is only 12weeks (10 weeks to go)

what type of engineer - i started life as an electronic engineer

On the results sheet for each event, just below the result I write nearest the pin, Longest drive & the date the event takes place.
When the event has been completed I put in the names of the players who win the nearest pin & longest drive. also followed by the date.
This information needs to be at the bottom of this sheet for me to fit it on my web site & also when sending out via email.
sometimes there are more than one longest drive & nearest the pin, I just add these if needed.
I would like this to still be at the bottom of each result sheet, just helps me when I send it out.

I will toy around with the ast sheet (sheet 9 ) any problems I will let you know.

Thank you

Hi

I have had a good toy around with the sheets now.
I have mocked up games in the season all works perfectly.
I have also mocked up for next season & again all seems fine. I did have problems unhiding the hidden things, but I have sorted how to,I think!
The only issue & to be honest it's not really a proble, is that the "blank" comes up on the leaderboard.
I am not worried about this if it has to stay there though, & if thirty players play, then its gone!
At present, or at least until the end of February there are so far 22 players, I hope to add a few more to this all being well!

By the way forgot to mention, I am an appliance technician, I service & repair household appliances electric & gas. I run my own small business, just me on my own!

I would like to once again say a massive thank you for all of your trouble, there is no way I could have done this myself. I can't say thank you enough!!!

Ok - blank easy to fix - not sure why that has appeared now
just goto the pivot table and click on the player A4 - should have an arrow at the side
that then produces a drop down - scroll down till you find blank - untick it

that should now sort out the leader sheet

I have noticed a few calc and entries still in some of the hidden rows etc
so have attached below a clear version
and blank should NOT appear

and the totals should be correct now as its not picking up c1,c2,c3,c4 on the hidden sheet and players 31 - 50 on other sheets

have a play
