Outlook Express won't open email
Outlook Express on XP Basic suddenly won't open emails. Clicking on an email results in the header information showing up at the bottom of the screen, where the message can be read only by expanding that header field, but the email message does not open a separate window as usual.
Double-clicking on the email results in the top line of OE going from highlighted to faint. A test message sent from another computer does appear on OE, but again cannot be opened other than by expanding the bottom-screen header field. A message cannot be sent - clicking on the Create Mail button also results in the top line going from bright blue to faint. At this point OE is unusable to send, cumbersome to receive. Any help much appreciated.

Without screen shots of this, I can only guess that the windows need to be re-sized.
