OpenOffice Writer
XP SP3 on Dell Vostro laptop.

I have OpenOffice 3.4.0 installed. Writer is the only part of the suite I ever use. Is there some way to uninstall everything else or, conversely, to download just Writer?

Go to "Add-Remove Programs", choose OpenOffice to see if it has a "Change" option which allows you to remove selected parts of it. If there is no such option, you will have to uninstall all of the OpenOffice suite, then choose the "Custom installation" when you re-install (if it has a custom installation).
