Transferring Word Macros to New Computer
I've got some Word Macros on my old computer (still working and on the network) that I want to transfer to the new one. How do I do that?

Old is Word 97 on Win98; new is Word 2000 on WinXP Pro.

(PS: I'm not asking how to transfer files, either by disk or over a network. I need to know what files to look for, what directory to transfer them to, or anything else I need to do, like an export/import operation.)

Thanks!

The file you are looking for is normal.dot. It will transfer all your toolbars, macros, etc. I'm not sure if everything will transfer or if it will work right since you are going from 97 to 2000, however. But it won't hurt to try.

You'll need to rename the normal.dot on the new computer to something such as normalold.dot. Then paste in the normal.dot from the other computer. If it doesn't work or makes Word weird since it is a newer version, just close Word, delete the normal.dot file, and open Word. It will automatically create a new normal.dot for you.

Hope this helps.
