Word ate my document
I was writing in a Word file, and was saving every few minutes. After one save, my computer crashed with a blue screen... the PAGE_NON_FAULT etc. error. After re-booting my word file was nothing but squares.

Is there a way to recover my document? I have Word97.

Thanks,
Shelley

Okay, first of all, Word did NOT eat your document, Shelley. It can't. It has no stomach. But I AM convinced that it's a man...

Try these steps:

Have you tried opening the document using Notepad? If none of Dreamboat's troubleshooting helps, you can post your document or PM me for my email address and I can try to see if it can be recovered/repaired with one of the utilities that I have.

Okay, Anne... so the man ate my document. I tried your link. I have Word97, sad but true, and it doesn't have the same features. I still tried some of the steps, just to see, but still get squares.

Rollin...I will PM you and maybe you can recover it?

Thanks to both of you!!
