microsoft word zoom level
does anyone know how to make word open up with a specific zoom level every time without having to adjust it? like i'd like for it to open up and be at page width (143%) instead of seeing no sides of the paper its zoomed in way too far..

Find (easiest using Search) your "normal.dot" file, open it and set the default zoom you want (plus anything else in the way of formatting for new documents), then save and close.

Yes it is a hidden file.

And if you have ever run Word at least once it will be there, it is created at the first instance of Word running after it is installed.

If it is deleted or missing, Word cretaes a new one when next run.

Without giving any clues as to the Office version and Windows version (though Windows XP would be assumed from the specs) we could not begin to guess where to tell you to look though.

But Search is easiest, just make sure that you enable hidden and system files.

Of course it is a completely blank file. just like an empty document. If it were not blank then every new document you started with would contain the content.

With the "blank" normal.dot file. set all your default preferences, including zoom. Then save it and those preferences become the default for all documents cretaed from then on.

Whatever you do, do not enter any text in the normal.dot file, for reasons above.
