My Word Doc Did Not Save Correctly
ok. So I have Office 2003. I have spent the last 10 hours updating a word doc of mine. I have been saving it every few hours.

Well, when I was done, I saved it, and then emailed the file to myself. When I opened the file, it was the file that I had 10 hours prior to my work. I don't know what happened. I can't find the newer file that I had been working on for the last 10 hours. I have tried looking for .wbk, .tmp, and .asd files and checking those but I can't find it. I also checked all my recent documents just in case that I might have saved it over another file. But nothing.

Can someone help me? I can't stand doing 10 hours of work again. Please any suggestions.

You say you tried looking for:

.wbk, .tmp, and .asd files

Did you try looking for .doc files?

Was the original document opened directly from you local drive or did you open the document as an attachment in an email?

yes I tried .doc files.

And yes I had opened it directly from my harddrive. I worked on it. Saved it several times. Emailed it to myself. Opened the email version. Saw it was the old old version. Opened the one on my harddrive. Was the same way. Freaked and checked for all the help I could. Now I am loosing my mind.

Just for fun, make a new word document, save it, open it up, make changes and save it again and see what happens.

What happens? Does it appear to save? Error message? If you try "file, save as" --- do you get asked if you want to overwrite? Will the change save that way?

It appears it won't save anything in the same file. I have to create a new file if I make any changes.

Find that file in windows explorer, right click on it and look at the properties. Per chance is it read only? I would think if that were the case though, you'd get a pop up message saying as much though...........
