I have an Access 2000 MDE application that works fine in Windows XP, but when I try to open it in Access 2007 on Vista (arrrgh!), it opens in read-only mode.

When I first tried, I got security warnings for each linked table, about 30 of them. I added a trusted location and those went away, but I still have the read-only problem.

You could try converting it to Access 2007
Or better still carry on using an older version of Access

Thanks for the reply.

I've just discovered that it's about permissions. My files are located in a sub-folder of C:\Program Files, with the application MDE file.

I moved one of the files to a "documents" folder and I can open if fine.

It's a customer who's having difficulty on his new Vista laptop, so I'm testing on my kids' Vista laptop, which I hate (Vista).

I should be the Administrator, but I'm not sure how to give myself permission to write in that folder.
