Question Log Print History
Hi, is there a way for Microsoft Word to save the text of each file that it prints, and maybe the date/time, etc.?

Generally, you can go to Start, Run, eventvwr and find all the listings labeled Print. However, this is a log of all your print jobs, not those from Word alone.
Karen's Print Logger, a free program at http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptprnlog.asp
(and one of several great programs she has developed and given away) also lists all print jobs, but it also gives the name of the file printed, so you can at least look for the .doc and .rtf files - and you can export the log to Word or Excel and read it at leisure....

Thanks, but that isn't what I need. I need it to save the actual text printed somehow. The document printed will be constantly updated as it is used...

So essentially, you want to save a copy of the file each time it is printed with a name such as "filename 08/30/2008 15:41.doc"?
I am pretty sure that such a thing is possible using VBA.

Yeah that's pretty what I need to do, but I'd prefer the text get saved each time in the same file, with the additional info. Do you have any idea how to make that function? I have VB experience but I don't really know how to get a function to be called every time the document is printed.

We'll have to wait for someone else with coding skills to help you - if I see anyone I know I will refer them here.
