Unhappy I try to open a paper and the letters are all boxes
I was in the middle of writing when my computer suddenly logged me off. This wasn't the first time it happened, sometimes it does that when I x out of my aol.But that's okay, right? 'Cause I saved it.
AND WHEN I LOGGED BACK ON AND OPENED MY PAPER, IT WAS NOTHING BUT PAGES AND PAGES AND PAGES OF BLOCKS. As in SQUARES. AS IN NO WORDS!
So I'm freaking out, I tried everything I knew how to do. Changing the font doesn't work.
I know it's a bad habit, but I wrote the paper on my computer's Word Pad. When I opened the document straight from my computer, instead of opening on word pad it opened on Microsoft Word Office. It won't open on notebook or Works Processor.

Help?

It is the fonts that are in error. Perhaps your computer is not handling the fonts properly, especially since you say you changed your fonts and it still does not work right.

Try taking your file to another computer (either email it elsewhere, or just copy it to a flashdrive - just get it elsewhere).

There is nothing wrong with "opened the document straight from my computer, instead of opening on word pad (or any other application)" as long as your filetypes are properly associated with your application of choice. It they aren't then you either open the application first and then use the menus there to open your desired file, OR just right-click your file and select "Open with" and chose your application. No real difference.
