Outlook 2002 test e-mail fails
I'm trying to setup my verizon e-mail account. But the test e-mail keeps failing even though all the login info is right.

Help. =(

Hi black ballon

What happens if you create a new message and send it to yourself?
Can I assume the original test e-mail is using the Test Account Settings button?

Could you also post the error message that has been generated?

Well I click on tools and e-mail accounts. I choose to add a new one. I checked online and found the incoming and oncoming mail servers, entered in all that information and my login info and when I go to test my e-mail settings, everything connects it just says the test e-mail failed and it says verify login info and I do and everything is correct.

The only thing I can figure is a different port number or I need to actually call Verizon to have them verify me.

I ran into the same problem with earthlink last night but it turned out my profile was corrupt so we made a new one and it worked fine. But I'm still using the new profile for the verizon account. Or do each e-mail accounts have to have seperate profiles?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can have several e-mail accounts setup in one profile.

Does this look like your server settings?

Verizon
POP: incoming.mail.net
SMTP: outgoing.mail.net

You can Send and Receive messages using both Earthlink and Verizon accounts, ok?

Okay I am testing it right now. the settings are incoming.verizon.net and outgoing.verizon.net

it's stopping at trying to log into the incoming verizon.net. The test email is the next step, I've been playing with the settings and I can't seem to find any proper adjustment.

Sorry, I don't know why I do that.
I definitely posted the wrong server settings.

Are you getting any kind of error messages?
