Unhappy Solved: To do Bar
Hello,

I have a problem with Microsoft outlook 2007.
The "To do list" folder cannot be displayed, as well as the To Do List doesn't appear I get "the object could not be found" message displayed.

I have tried the following: run outlook with /resetfolders, resttodobar and cleanreminder switches no change. I even unistalled and re-installed outlook 2007. I scanned the Pst file using scanpst. None of the above has helped.

Deleted and created a new account for the user, no luck.

When I try to rename the pst file I get the message "the file is being used by another program/process." at this point the outlook is closed, and there isn't any other instance of outlook running (task manager, process..)

The os is Vista. Has anyone come accross this kind of issue? Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi fira

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Did you try creating a new Profile in Outlook 2007?
create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007

The new Profile will have a brand new .pst file. If all goes well, the original .pst file can then be opened into the new Profile.
File > Open > Outlook Data File

Let us know if that makes a difference or not.

Outlook 2007
That worked, thank you.

However, once the pst files is imported, the error reoccurs. After closing the outlook, when I try to rename the outlook.pst, it gives me an error "the file cannot be renamed as it is being used by another program". No instance of outlook is running.

What I am going to do is I am importing Inbox, sent and deleted folders only. I will have the user re-enter the tasks and calender items....hope that will fix it. Will keep u posted.

Once again thanks for your assistance.

Don't Import. Open the .pst file as I posted above.

In Outlook 2007:
File > Open > Outlook Data File
Browse to the location of the .pst file and select it, it should then appear in Outlook.

It's much faster to open a .pst file then to Import it.

Try creating yet another new Profile, start Outlook with the new Profile, and only open the original .pst file, avoid Importing.
Then you can create a new .pst file and drag or copy the folders/items from the original .pst file into the new .pst file.
Then Remove the old/original Personal Folders (.pst file) from Outlook 2007.
Right click on the Root/Top folder and select Close "Personal Folders

Sorry, I am confused, can you clarify what it is you are try to accomplish with renaming the .pst file?

This is what I have done.
Imported the e-mails and contacts- only. They came in fine and it seems to be working.

As for Renaming the pst file : I was trying to rename the original pst so as to keep a copy if anything should happen. Will delete it after a couple of days.

The user will reenter her appointments and tasks.

So far it has been working fine.

Thanks.
