Solved: Reply in Outlook 2007
Hello,

The reply part of an e-mail doesn't show up in outlook 2007, however, the e-mail in blackberry has the reply. The stumbling part is that, all other repies from other e-mail addresses are fine except for the reply from this particular e-mail address (say X).

This is the same address (X), that, when an excel attachment is sent to it is received in winmail.dat. However, if the e-mail is forwarded to another person, who then forwards it to X, its fine. All other users who belong to the same domain as X, can receive the excel attachment fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, kind of: The user X uses Lotus Notes for e-mail, and the only way he could get the attacment in excel was if the e-mail was sent in plain text format. As all other users in his organization are able to get the excel attachment fine, sent by the same user, hence, I think that he doesn't have a fix that was released by IBM to rectify this problem.

So for now I have changed the e-mail format from HTML to Plain text.

Thanks.

I was curious if the sender was using autocomplete to send their messages to user X.
If they manually keyed in the e-mail address of user X, are the attachments then received by user X, correctly?

We didn't try that. He was using auto complete....how would that effect the attachment? Is there any link between autocomplete address and attachments?

I taught at a large entity that used notes and converted HTML into plain text emails with attachments. It is odd that it was stripping the attachment as it came in. Did you embed the Excel file into the body of the email before?

Not as far as I know, the attachments were always sent as attachments.

OK, just making sure. That could mess it up if it was done that way.

My thought was, something was wrong with the autocomplete address, although the message and an attachment reached the addressee, the attachment could not be opened, until it was forwarded to someone else then forwarded back to the original recipient.

Though, I could be reaching, it would require testing to verify.
Since you have a resolution, I'll leave it at that.

In Outlook 2007:
Tools > Options > Preferences tab > E-mail Options button
For the On replies and forwards section, is it set to:
*Include original message text?
