Returned mail: over quota generally means just that - the recipient has so much space allotted on their server for email and they have met/exceeded that amount. Until they delete some email from the server, no more will be accepted.

Thank you very much for your comment. Does the principle still apply when i send an email to a distribution list of say 70 people - and one of them has a mail box already full?

Just that one person should not get the mail - the other addresses are going to receive their mail independently.
