Today, against better judgment, I set up Outlook Express. Everything was going fine for a while until it stopped connecting to the server completely.

So I wanted to go with Thunderbird instead. This is, of course, after I tried to "fix" Outlook and now it can't find my outlook.pts file even though I CLEARLY know where it is! It just can't be found through the browsing tool!
So now I can't send OR receive ANY e-mail, period!

Please tell me there's someone who can help?

It is a hidden system file. Turn them on from the Options of Windows Explorer.

Outlook Express uses .dbx files, Outlook Express is not available with Vista.
Microsoft Outlook uses .pst files.

There is no program called Outlook Express 2007.

You are most likely using Microsoft Outlook 2007, do a search for .pst files and if you cannot locate them, enable hidden files and folders as DaveA suggested.


Let us know what happens.

I made the files unhidden but there still is no outlook.pst file. It seems I may have deleted it (no idea how) or put it in a random folder without noticing. Either way, I don't think it's correctable.
Guess I'll just have to stick to checking my e-mail online :P

Did you do a search for the .pst extension only?
Searching by the extension only would locate any file name with that extension.

Yeah, I did. No resulting matches were found :P

I am not looking at Vista right now, but on Windows XP there is: More advanced options where you can also search, System folders, Hidden files and folders and subfolders.


Will Outlook 2007 open for you at all?
If it will, you can create a new Personal Folders (.pst) file.

If Outlook 2007 will not open, you can create a new profile for Outlook 2007.
