Unhappy MS Office 2007 Keeps Crashing (Vista 32 bit)
Hey guys! I am having some major issues with all programs in my MS Office Enterprise 2007 on my ACER desktop PC bought in April 2008.

When I try to Save As or Open a document in Word/Power Point/Excel it crashes...

When trying to attach a file in Outlook it crashes...

Basically anything to do with MS Office... crashes...

I have tried several remedies to no avail. These include:
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Office
  • Uninstalling any programs from the point of the multiple crashes
  • Disabling any Add-ons in all Office programs
  • Running Diagnostics (NO PROBLEMS DETECTED)
  • Updating Windows (all up to date)
  • Restoring computer to before the problematic period (no date before crashes was available)
  • Deleting/renaming HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Office\Word\Data &/or \Options
  • Ramming head against brick wall... (doesn't work but makes the puter problems seem less painful by comparison)
Can anyone suggest a workable solution to my problem, PLEASE???

Please define "crash". Does it just close, stop responding, give any errors, etc?

Sorry, yes each Office program closes after either error message 'Microsoft Word* has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.' or 'Microsoft Word* is restarting. Word is attempting to recover your documents. Please wait while Word restarts.' In which case it usually restarts but then the former message replaces the latter (ie. Word has stopped working.. and closes).

Angry Outlook crashes when I attach a file
I'm also having this problem. Very frustrating when you've spent half an hour writing an email, then attach a file only to have an Outlook popup saying "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to restart. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Then it asks to restart Outlook.

I can however attach a file by copying the file into the clipboard, then pasting it into the email.

I've tried running the diagnostics, without success.

I've just uninstalled Office Enterprise 2007, rebooted, then reinstalled - but the same thing keeps happening.

Any ideas?

Do any of you have Norton running?

Below are directions for Norton Security 06.
Open Norton.
Click the Norton Internet Security tab
Click the Settings list
Scroll to Additional Settings
Click the Virus and Spyware Protection hyperlink
Select Advanced Options and click the Miscellaneous option
Uncheck "Turn on scanning for Microsoft Office documents"
