It looks so simple when you do it
Here's another question: in my original database I have more fields in the 'competitors' table
How do I show them in subform
Example:
JACK, M, 37kg, black belt, 12.10.1987

The way that I do that is in the Combo's SQL Query. I combine the Fields in to one new Column with an expression like this
Data:[Name] & ", " & [Initial] & ", " & [Weight] & ", " & [Level] & ", " & [Date]

You can then use Data: instead of Name for displaying the data.

By the way, when you get the Duplicate Error Message because of the Combine Field you can intercept that message and replace it with something like "You have already entered that Contestant in this Competition".

I've done that and it's working pretty well

What to do if I want seperate colums? (I am exporting the subform table to Word table)

Just add the Contestants Table fields to the Positions Table in a Query to export to Word.
