Outlook Archiving Question
I am not using Outlook myself but a colleague has asked me how deal with an error message she is getting. It says" Error while archiving folder "deleted items" in store " Personal Folders" . The file xxxx \outlook\archive.pst has reached its maximum size."
Then it suggests to permanently delete them by pressing Shift+ Delete or to consider the new Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst) introuduced in Outlook 2003.

I checked and she is using Outlook 2003 on Small Business Edition 2003. Most of the stuff in her trash is business related and as such should not deleted (for the appopriate record keeping period). So there is not that much to delete. The other suggestion is unclear - if the current file is using the extension .pst and the new Outlook Personal Folders File ends in .pst - what is the difference and how would she change?

Any help would be appreciated and please bear in mind that I am not a user familiar with the program just trying to help a colleague.

What this means to me? Her archive.pst file is in an OLDER Outlook format. Try going to File-->Data files (I forget where it is and I've only got 2000 here at work). Somehow, she needs to convert her archive.pst to an Outlook 2003 format. You should be able to find it in the help files or under a Data Files menu somewhere.

See my fifth bullet point here:
