Exclamation Access 2007 form help
I am writing an inventory database. I've always been decent at Access, but 2007 is giving me fits! I have one table that is simply a columnar layout of all of my fields (number, description, manufacture, etc...) There are actually about 50 pieces if info for each record and the columns go on for a while. What I would like to be able to do is have a column at the beginning with the word "detail" in the column for each record that is a hyperlink to a detail form for the individual pieces of equipment. If I wanted to see the whole record of an item, I could see all of the fields on one form without having to scroll around. I already have the form built but can't get the link to work properly with the hyperlink. When the form opens up, it doesn't show any info at all. How do I link the form so it knows what record it needs to display.

As a side note, I would like to be able to put navigation buttons on the bottom tht would allow me to move forwards and backwards in thetable and still see the record's info. Help!

Flash, welcome to the Forum.
I am not sure that I like the sound of your Table design, it sounds like some of the data might belong in other related tables.
However to answer your questions, the first about a hyperlink to open a Form can be achieved using either VBA code or a Query. Others hace posted about Access 2007 problems opening a second form, but usually they show all records instead of just the one they want.
Your second question about Navigation buttons is easily achieved and there are quite a few examples of it in use on this Forum, they all involve basically simple VBA code like
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
to move to the next record.
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acPrevious
to move to the previous record.

Re: Access Help
Thanks a lot for the reply. Actually, most of my important data like owner, condition, location, etc... is in other tables and in the main inventory table they are lookups so I think I set that up right.

I have to admit that I'm not real VB savvy, so I'll have to ask for a little more help. I'd be happy to send you a copy a let you look at it as I'd love some critique on it's design, but it's 3mb already with no data in it.

I'd like to make the item name in each record the hyperlink. Say, xray machine. Making a field a hyperlink is accomplished through the properties tab and then you can go to the data tab and use the Onclick command to do an event procedure. I can get that far, but the actual code escapes me.

Flash, have you Compacted & Repaired the database lately as that will reduce the size a lot.
I will private mail you my email address and you can send me a zipped copy, but I would need it converted to Access 2003 to open it.
