Excel chart - 5data series - 4 bars/1 line??
Hi there. In Excel, I have 5 series of data, I want to chart them as 4 bars and the fith series showing as a line, can it be done? I am using the "Line Column" chart type but it is making the last 2 series into lines. I would like 4 bars (to show phone calls) and 1 line (to show texts) running over the top. Can this be done? Thanks so much.

Welcome to the Forum!
I am not too clear what you are trying to do. Could you either post some (fake) data or, preferably, a file showing what you are trying to do?

simonhof.

If you're using Excel 2007, you can Make your bar chart with all the data. Then in the chart select the series you want to turn into a line chart, right click - change series chart type.

Perhaps a similar procedure would work on other versions, but I have no way of checking.

not easy but...
If you are really wanting to show data two ways in a graph, you have to create 2 graphs, one of the 4 bars and one of the line data.
Then you have to set the backgrounds as blank and tinker (a lot!) to make them line up. You will also have to fiddle with the axes in order to make the graph mean anything.
Attached is a quickly done file showing what I mean.
