Exclamation Solved: How to get outlook express 5 data from raw files
I have all of the files on the hard drive saved to my external, but only by copying them in windows explorer and pasting them to my external. Is there any way to get the messages and contacts from these raw files and exporting them into a copy of Outlook 2003? I really need help on this one so any advice would be super appreciated!!! Thanks again!!!

Hi PanamaKevin

Outlook 2003 can Import messages from Outlook Express using:
File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses
Did you try that before copying the files?

What is the file extension of the files you saved?

the problem is this: I was moving files from a windows 98 machine to a windows xp machine. I forgot to export files from outlook express before formatting but i did have the opportunity to copy all the files under C:\program files\outlook express\ so the file types i have are: LKO, DLL, EXE, and TXT. But I did copy everything from that file folder.

The files you needed were in Documents n Settings for the user.

Unfortunately, the files you saved do not contain messages.
Outlook Express saves messages in .dbx files.

Was there a Documents and Settings directory in Windows 98?

I am trying to pull the data from a windows 98 folder structure... I don't see a Documents and Settings folder. I can get contact information from C:windows\application data\microsoft\address book but i still can't find the messages...
