lemansguy-Outlook 2007 databinding
I am unable open Outlook 2007. When I try to open the application, the mesage databinding appears in the lower left. I am running Windows XP. The only way to terminate the application is to use the task manager. I have left the application running for hours and it will not get past databinding message.

Hi lemansguy, and welcome to TSG.

I am still using Office 2003. I did find two old threads here that may be of some help:

Have you Installed any Office or Windows Updates just before this occurred?
If so try a System restore back to a Point prior to those Installations.
Have tired a "Re-install/Repair" of Outlook?

I tied both item in message and Outlook still freezes up. Apparently this was not the cause. Additional help would be appreciated.

Hi lemansguy

I have read and reread this thread and your post and sorry to say, I am still unable to read your mind.
Exactly what have you tried?

Please post the steps you have tried and the result.

Here are thestep I tried. Sorry about that.

Turn off indexing on particular hard disk drive
  1. Open up “My Computer”. Or open “Windows Explorer” and then expand Computer tree.
  2. Right click on the hard drive to disable indexing (i.e (C drive letter).
  3. Select Properties on the contextual menu.
  4. Click on General tab if it’s not already selected.
  5. Untick (unselect) the check box for Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching option.
  6. Click OK, and wait for the index removal process to complete, which may take a few minutes.
  7. Repeat the steps for other hard drives if applicable.
Disable the Indexing Service in Windows XP
  1. Open “Control Panel”, select “Administrator Tools”, and open Services applet. Alternatively, type services.msc in the Rn text box from Start menu, and then hit Enter.
  2. Scroll down and locate Indexing Service service, and then double click on it.
  3. Click on Stop button to immediately stop the indexing service if the service status shows “Running.
  4. Under the “Startup Type”, select Disabled to permanently disable the indexing service so that it won’t run again.
  5. Click OK.

Thank you.

Try repairing the Personal Folders (.pst file)
How to use the Inbox Repair Tools

You may need to enable: Show Hidden Files and Folders.
For Windows XP:
  • Open My Computer or Windows Explorer
Tools > Folder Options > View tab,
under Hidden Files and Folders, verify Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.

    Remove the check mark for:
Hide Extensions for known file types
Apply, OK to save and close.

Do a Search for: scanpst.exe
Check in this folder first: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2007\Office12

Check in this folder for your .pst files:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Account\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Or, Control Panel > Mail icon > Data Files > Open Folder should get you there.

Using the steps in the link above, run the scanpst.exe tool on the .pst files you find.
After repairing the .pst files, attempt to start Outlook 2007.

Let us know what happens.
