Deleting Contacts
In using Outlook 2003 I am having trouble permanently deleting contacts. I cannot find them when I do a search and have gone through all my address folders to find these contacts to no avail. Meanwhile I keep receiving delivery errors with these 'deleted' contacts when I send out my group messages. Where are they hiding out and how can I permanently delete them? I am concerned about my email getting blacklisted by hotmail or sympatico if this continues.

You have to go into the groups you created and delete them from there also, not just from the main address list.

By deleting them from the folders will NOT delete them from the "Distribution" lists.
You must open each list and remove them from the list.

Also the same email address MAY be used for other named entries.

Dave-Are you saying that they addresses for some may be in other contacts or profiles?
I'd also like some clarification so I am speaking the right language, groups and distribution lists-are they the same or different?

Thanks!

I do NOT know where you are getting the "Group" thing.
When in Outlook, go to the tool bar and select the drop down arrow of the "New" Icon, there you will see Distribution not Group (at least on my machines) listed.

And since you are using "Folders" in your contacts (as stated above) then you may have the conflict address(es) entered many times.

When you are doing the search what are you searching on?

When in Outlook, go to the tool bar and select the drop down arrow of the "New" Icon, there you will see Distribution not Group (at least on my machines) listed. Are you talking about while I am in Contacts? From the home screen I don't have a drop down arrow for "New". I don't have distribution list anywhere, only "New Contact" or "contact Group" while in 'Contacts'.

And since you are using "Folders" in your contacts (as stated above) then you may have the conflict address(es) entered many times. Not folders so much as "Groups".

When you are doing the search what are you searching on? There is a search window on the upper right of the screen while in 'Contacts'.

Okay-so while looking for my version of Outlook I noticed that it is not in fact Outlook I am working in (duh!) but Windows Mail. I still have the same issue though. There are email addresses that receive group messages even though I cannot find them in my Contacts list or in any of the Contact Groups I have created. Can anyone help?

You can add people to a group and not be listed as a seperate contact.

You need to Open the group(s) and delete those that you do NOT want in that group.
You need to check the emaill addresses for the entry, as you may have the same email address for other named entries.

What do you mean "You can add people to a group and not be listed as a seperate contact"? How can I find the address to delete it?
I have opened all the groups and still have not found said emails. Are you saying that the email address may some how be listed under a different name?
