Hi florange

As these questions are related, I have merged your two posts to one thread.

Your reference to "retired lady", is this the thread you are speaking of?
http://forums.techguy.org/business-a...k-problem.html

In the future it would be helpful to post the link to the thread, this would save us time having to search for it.

Try creating a new profile for Outlook 97 to see if Outlook will open without errors using the new profile:

Let us know what happens.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes, "retired lady" and I have same problem. Sorry, It was my first post and was not certain how to go about it all. I also posted my question on "software" in more detail. However, I did go to Microsoft as you suggested and they advised I needed to create a new email and they listed the steps how to do it. The problem is, I cannot get connected to Outlook '97 to do these steps. If you have another solution would be very happy to know it.

We don't have a member called "retired lady" but we do have a member called "retiredgirl".

You went to the Microsoft Knowledge base article I posted, or you called Microsoft?

Nowhere in the link I posted does it advise creating a new email?? account??.
It gives the steps to create a new email profile for Outlook.
Similar to a new Windows User Account, only this is a new profile for Outlook.

Do you not have a Mail or Mail and Fax icon in the Control Panel?
New Outlook profiles are created with Outlook closed.

Please reread the steps listed in that link again, for: How to create a new e-mail profile

Again, I thank you for your avice and I'm sorry that you had to sort thru so many requests. I did try the Microsoft solution you showed, but it cannot work because I cannot connect to Outlook '97 at all. the message reads: "Unable to display the selected folder. Could not open item. Try again." Someone mentioned that I should use the restore to original settings, but don't know how to do that either. Perhaps MS cut off Outlook '97 because it's too old. Pls do your utmost to help. Thanks.

I don't think we are on the same page, yet.

You didn't answer my question from my last post, so let's try again.
Do you have a Mail or Mail and Fax icon in the Control Panel?

If you do have a Mail or Mail and Fax icon in the Control Panel.
What happens when you click it?

Does a window, like this, appear after clicking the Mail or Mail and Fax icon?

Does an error message appear when you click the Show Profiles button, when you click the Mail or Mail and Fax icon?
