#16 | Is the store number always from the 'Skim Compliance' worksheet? Where is the month retreived from? Those are part of the path variable, so we'll need to know where to look for that. And on your worksheet it's basically going to grab the red cells of data and populate accordingly? So for the example of employee '10554f', range F19:M19, data will be looked at accordingly on the 'MasterTracker.xls' file (cells are split up, but from row 13). Is that correct? And that's all you're looking to update?
Also, how do you want to fire this off? Don't think we've asked that yet. | | Member with 52 posts.

#17 | using variables to pull from muiltiple docs Is the store number always from the 'Skim Compliance' worksheet?
All Sheets can be ingored other than the month overview, month overview will pull all information needed from that workbook onto that page.
Where is the month retreived from? Month will be retrieved from User input in, Currnetly Havent asigned the cells for that information yet. The layout i was planning to work with depending on what code is needed. C4 could easily be labeled "Month" and c5 be the input where they will type out the month.

Also, how do you want to fire this off? Don't think we've asked that yet. I would like it to auto update when opened. Other than the first day of the month when the Employee number and month are updated, as well as the goals are updated, I dont plan for the end user to be making any other changes to it. Most likely many managers will simply "save as" at the end of the month, then change the month, as employee's will be updated as hired or let go.
btw I just again want to express my thanks for your time and help on this.

#18 | As for the month, don't design it around the code, we'll design it around your workbook structure. Kind of putting the cart before the horse. So you tell me what cells will house what, and how that data will be (i.e. in-cell drop down with months in whole name form, etc).
I think that's all we need right now. | | Member with 52 posts.

#19 | I haven't looked into the whole structure on how drop downs effect Code, however that would make it a easy solution for the month. One thing I dont know If I mentioned, but I was wondering on a way to mask the extra employee's boxes that dont have a number put in, such as a number of employee's drop down (sorry your question brought it back to mind). Overall Im not to worried with the Looks of it so whatever you think works easiest is great. Ill have several more doc's to make once I understand how to code the variable information.
As far as the whole month names, I think that would best.

#20 | An in-cell drop down, completed via data validation, wouldn't affect the code at all, only make it easier for your users to choose a value. The plus side in doing that for you is the really big benefit. You can predetermine what you want the users to choose. Users will ALWAYS find a way to screw things up, always. If you leave room for error they'll find it. Always, always, always bank on that when writing code. Error handling seems to be a lost art with some people.
So which cells will have your variables exactly? I can add them to the workbook I have for testing. | | Member with 52 posts.

#21 | Pulling from Muiltiple Excel Docs with Variables Thanks for all your help again zack, with what little time I have Im finishing up allot of the Excel docs. I had been waiting on them so I could build the script a little easier as I go and not worry about missing a cell, but with all your help Id like to give you as close to the finished product as possible to help keep things streemlined.
