Access very slow after conversion
We recently converted from Office 2003 to Office 2007. The Access program on a database we have is VERY SLOW response time while typing info. I have done some research & it appears this is fairly common in Office 2007 applications with no fix for it. (If you know of a fix please share) I have a copy of the database saved in 2003 format so I am thinking of reinstalling the Access 2003 which is separate from my Office 2003. My question is can I uninstall Access 2007 which is installed as a Suite & then reinstall Access 2007? If I have both 2007 & 2003 on the same machine, doesn't it open up in the 2007? Is there a better solution?

THX,
renfri

From all I have read on the subject whichever version is installed or Repaired last is the version that will open and it will disable the other version due to Conflicts in the Registry keys.
I am not clear if you are running your 2003 version as a 2003 version in Access 2007 or if you have "Converted" it to 2007.
If it is converted and running slowly I would try creating a new Blank 2007 Database and then Importing everything from the converted one in to the new one and then compact & Repair it.
I would also compare the running times between a converted version and running the original 2003 version in Access 2007.

We have the file I converted to 2007 & also a copy of the file before I did the convert that is in 2003-2002 format. I will do what you suggested. In case that doesn't work, can I uninstall the Access of 2007 of the Office Suite & install my Access 2003 that is by itself & use the old copy? I was wondering if that was an option. I don't want to start an uninstall & find out it is all or nothing. If we have to go down that road. I will try what you suggested though first. I never thought of trying any of that. Thanks for the help!

Yes you should be able to do that OK, although just installing Access 2003 will probably prevent 2007 from working.
