Your help is desired here.

I just built a fresh windows server 2008 64 bit OS. I need to install sql 2008 on it. When I try it immediately prompts an error saying microsoft .net 3.5 is not installed.

Problem is, is I did install .net 3.5 sp1.

Some things I have researched indicate that 3.5 needs to be enabled in 2008 server OS. When I go to do that, all that is listed under features is .net 3.0. So I enabled that, hoping that on a refresh it would see 3.5 but it does not.

Has anyone installed sql 2008 on a windows 2008 server and if so could you shed any light please?
