Solved: Outlook 2007 delets emails from server
Hello,

I use at work 1 desktop PC and 1 laptop. Both of them have Outlook 2007. Starting last week something strange started to happen. The laptop donloads the emails from server and delets them. They are no longer available for the desktop Outlook.

If i use only the desktop PC i can see the emails ok. I work with them and everything is ok. When i open the laptop and press the"Send/Receive" button magic happens. Emails dissapear from my inbox on the desktop PC and i can only see them on laptop.

If i use only the laptop i can see the emails. If i start the desktop after that no emails are available since laptop downloaded and deleted them from the server.

Some friend told me to go to: Tools -> Account Settings - > select my account and press Change -> More Settings -> go in the Advanced tab and check "keep emails on server" or "do not delete emails from server".

Problem is i have no such check boxes in the Advanced tab.

I have:
-Cached Exchange Mode settings
-Mailbox mode (Unicode mode against Microsoft Exchange)

Anything i can do so the laptop Outlook stops deleting the emails from server?

Thank you
Danniy

Danniy,

Can you tell us if your using pop3? Please tell us that which computer is using that settings you mentioned, laptop or desktop? Are you using http to connect or not? Are you the one who made this setting for laptop? Cheers you can still send back your mail on server but you must see first whats wrong with your laptop.

All I know is that the account is Microsoft exchange server. I am sure it is not HTTP.
The laptop is the one with problems (the one who deletes). If i remember i gues it asked me on first use if i want to make it work faster and to download the email but i don't remember well. I just said yes and thats it. I dont know if that was the thing that caused the problem on laptop.

I assumed that your laptop is using an MS Ex Server. Please check the following:

1> Tools> Rules and Alert - if any settings might forward you mail to .pst folder

2> Mail - right now in your Outlook (laptop) where is the e-mail saved
>> .ost - Server
>> .pst - Personal folder

3> If you can provide a screenshot would be very helpful for me.

4> Are you using an Offline Folder (.ost)

Cheers!

Here are some screenies. Tell me if you need more.

1. no rules and allerts.
2. in the Data files tab i can see:

- Archive folders - xxx.pst in c:\xxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Mailbox - My name - outlook.ost in c:\xxxxxxxxxxxx
- Personal folders outlook.pst in c:\xxxxxxxxxxx

3. screenshots provided
4. i guess there is an offline folder. same with the other ones for email outlook.ost

Thanks danniy, on your first screenshot "account Settings" i need to see your data files settings on the 2nd tab. I'll wait for it.

Cheers!

Solution
Thanks again Danniy.

** Please do the ff:

> go to the settings in Data Files. The last image that i requested.
> Highlight the "Mailbox - Your Name". Click Set As Default.
> Under Comment column, your "Mailbox - Your Name" should be your default or primary folder. Check it under comment
> Now after doing this. You will notice that all your e-mail will be delivered into this Mailbox.

** Now we have to move all your e-mail into that Mailbox. **

> Select all your e-mail. After highlighted all e-mails Right-Click on it, choose Move to folder.
>Choose Mailbox - Your Name > Inbox.
> After moving all your e-mails into this folder. Leave it for a couple of hours as it will be uploaded to your mail server. Speed and time may varies depending on your Net.

Please let us know the result. Cheers
