Solved: Word Merging Header and Body Tables
I have a Word 2007 documents that is populated with Content Controls. I have a header that is a table with multiple lines. The main body of the document is also within a table. I found that Word would merge the body and header table into one huge table that is all within the header. To fix this problem I had to set the properties of the main table as follows: Table Properties -> Positioning -> Vertical Position 3.5cm, Relative to Page. When this is set the tables do not merge. However, when there are multiple pages the table (main) prints over the header on the subsequent pages. This again can be fixed by putting 1cm into the, Table Properties -> Positioning -> Distance from surrounding text "top" and "bottom". The problem is now that you have to add this value to Vertical position otherwise the tables merge again.

Does anybody know how I can make this simple? All I want is to have a header table and main body table that do not merge. I also want the body table not to print over the header or the border that is around the page. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Johan

Hi Johan (are you from Holland?)

I have just tried it and didn't have any problems.

I inserted a two row table into the header secttion first

I then closed the header, so that I was in the body of the document and created a ten row table

I filled the page with text until I came to the second page.

Only the header table was visible in the header section.

I also did it the other way round i.e. Table in body of document and then table in header and it worked fine.

I actually found the problem. I have to set the "text wrapping" to none in the table properties. This fixes all the merging and alignment problems.
