Excel problems throughout the company
Ok, so we have over a thousand users, but recently weve had 5-6 users who are having problems opening files from Excel. Being the desktop guy, I wanted to rule out Excel, but it seems now that I cannot. Here is the latest users symptoms...

1. open local files quickly, but network files are extremely slow to open
2. open network files quickly with OpenOffice

Another user says that even moving across cells or scrolling nearly locks his machine up.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Any errant code running here? Do they have any add-ins installed? What version are they using? If 2003 or before, how large is their XLB file (a hidden file, which when bloated can cause issues like this)? Any other applications running? Is it every Excel file? Same file on other machines behave the same way? Is this just Excel files? All files or specific files? Does a known file (that opens 'properly') open the same way on those machines? Is hardware possibly a factor? Have you tried Excel in Safe Mode?
