Solved: Labels from Word to Excel
I am having trouble taking labels and transferring them to an excel sheet. I have tried everything I know and cannot get it to work.

What exactly are you trying to do? And why? Can you provide us with what it is you are starting with, and what it is you are trying to end up with? And why.

I have 16 pages of labels I need to put into excel with the info separated into individual cells

For my boss, of course.

Can you provide a sample of your work? Also, can you provide us with details of what it should look like in Excel?

And your boss, of course, the obvious answer, duh. Life would be simpler without them, wouldn't it? Can you by any chance ask your boss as to why they want that? What is the end result here? This is the second half of what we need really. A start (why) and an end (why). Sometimes there's a better way of doing things. And sometimes bosses need to be told they're barking up the wrong tree, if you know what I mean.

LOL...ok it is mailing labels for xmas cards.

The excel doc is set up so that one line has
Company/ Title/ first name/ last name /address/address 2/city/state/zip each in its own cell

as for the why? well...she can't do it. so she gave it to me to do.

Gotcha.

I'm sure we could do this, but I'm unsure of what your data is like in Word. Are you able to provide a sample? Are they in tables? Is it one label per page? And this is a one-time thing you're looking to do? Or would this be something you'd need to run over and over again? Wondering if we need some code here or if we can find some native functionality that will work for you.

Zack sent me a message asking me to take a look at this since he is going to be busy with work related stuff for the next week. Are you able to provide me with a sample of the word document containing the labels? Please email to Rollin_Again at hotmail dot com and I'll take a look. I don't think it would be too difficult to write a macro to extract the data.

I've taken a look at the document in question and it appears that using a macro isn't feasible because there is no uniformity in the records. Some of the records contain job titles, multi-line addresses, and other info that is not common to the other records. In other words, there is not really any way to write logic for the macro to understand what each line represents. I've already communicated this info to the original poster.

I may be able to do something with formulas instead, and also wrote to the OP along those lines. And, if I can't, well, that happens sometimes.
