Can't install Outlook 2007!
Hello everyone,

Hopefully I can get some help here before I throw my laptop out the window

I'm having a frustrating time trying to install micrcosoft outlook 2007.

I'm running windows vista home basics.

I put outlook disk in, as told, i will be prompted to follow instructions to complete setup, but nothing happens. Nothing at all.

Any ideas why? What can I try?

Pucka,

Welcome to TSG!

Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop, then double-click the DVD Drive icon.

Look for a file named Setup.exe and double-click it to start the Office 2007 setup.

Hey fella,

As simple as that sounds, I cant find DVD Drive icon / Setup.exe anywhere. If that is essential to install outlook, how do i get it?

I even tried a dvd to see if it worked, with no joy. which is strange because i watched a dvd on my laptop about 3 weeks ago. Dunno if this tells you anything though?

I am a real computer spaz so bare with me

Typically the CD/DVD drive will be labeled ( D: ) in My Computer.

Try the following:
-Be sure your Office 2007 disc is in the CD/DVD drive
-Click on your Start button
-Click Run
-Type d:\setup.exe
-Click OK

If that doesn't work, tell me what icons you see when you open My Computer.

I done what you said with run, and I got this error message

“windows cannot find ‘d:\setup.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again”

The icons I see in my computer are

Local disk ( C: )
PRESARIO_RP ( D: )
Removable Disk ( G: )
Norton Backup Drive
.....

OK it seems that no disks are working. Making me think there's an issue with the drivers. I thought the prob was with outlook disk, but no disks are being picked up. ?

PRESARIO_RP ( D: ) is a Recovery Partition. Removable Disk ( G: ) is more than likely your CD/DVD drive.

With the Office disc in the drive, try the following command in the Run field:
G:\setup.exe
