Exclamation problem with Access 2007
I need to put an excel document into an access form. i get as far as inputting it into access using the excel input button in the external data area. when its in the table area, how can I get it into a form or is there no way as i've been looking around this area and can not find anyway to do it as the data just disapears when in the form from the excel document in the table.
hope someone can help soon
thanks
lucy

Hi Lucy,

Ok...so you say you're trying to import an excel sheet into Access. When you use the external data button, are you adding in the excel sheet as a linked table or the other choice (which I call the stand alone table b/c it just imports all of the data into a regular table and is not connected to your excel sheet)?

Also for your form, did you use the Form wizard to create it? From the Form wizard you should be able to select the table that has the excel sheet data in it.

Either way, I look forward to your response.

Best,
Zhouma

are you saying the Form wizard does not list the table in the drop down for Tables/queries?

If it is a Linked Table then it should be added to your Form as a "Subform".

Using Access in Excel when Access can do the job just fine. Why do people insist on using both of these apps together? A spreadsheet is NOT a database nor is a database a spreadsheet. Personally, I think you can do far more with Access than you could ever hope to do with Excel on it's own.

Rockn, although I agree with you about how versatile Access is and that Excel should not be used for databases, there are 2 areas that Excel is better than Access and that is Advanced Math and Graphing. Access does graphs, but they are sheer torture compared to Excel. Also with older Access versions and Vista there are still some unresolved Graph Displaying issues.

True, but it would be easier to have Access hold and manipulate the data and use that data to export and use Excel's functionality for that. Using a spreadsheet as an OLD object inside of a form and trying to manipulate the data just seems redundant.

I agree completely, unless of course it's actually a Chart.
In which case it should be Imbedded.
