Hi there, and welcome to the board!

Can you tell us exactly how this button is created? It would help to know a little more about it.

Talking Outlook 2007 customized toolbar not saved
It was created as follows...Tools, Commands, Hightlight Edit (Left Hand Side) and Mark as Read (Right Hand side), drag and drop next to Help. I added it to my Outlook 2007 closed and reopen and it is there and works, the only difference I can see so far is that the client info under Help, "About Microsoft Office Outlook", he has SP2.. (12.0.6423.1000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)... Mine read (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6213.1000)..
Client states that he has to have SP2 for another app.

I don't have a fix for you but I have Outlook 2007 SP2 and I am able to add the button to the toolbar without the same issue.

All Service Packs should be installed regardless of which machine it resides on. They are thoroughly tested and fix known bugs. Very rarely are they detrimental, and if so it is known fairly quickly and fixed as well. Hotfix's on the other hand, they are somewhat less stable than SP's IMHO. Ensure your friend is up to date with all updates (check the Microsoft website). Are there any add-ins installed? What kind of environment is this run in? OS? Is it all users on this machine?
