Any additional ideas? Still no outlook, and I've had some other problems cropping up, like Winzip not working.

Another error which occurred on a reboot...Winlogon.exe failed and had to close. Below are the files in the error report. That second one appcompat keeps coming up on various errors of programs having to close.

C:\DOCUME~1\ANDREW~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9fc2.dir00\winlogon.exe.mdmp

I can't say for sure the following will fix your problem but it will surely speed up your computer and make it run smoother. We need to trim down your severely bloated Startup directory:

Click Start > Run > type msconfig

Select the Startup tab.

The following items can be unchecked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Apoint] C:\Program Files\Apoint\Apoint.exe (keep only if you are using your pointing software)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxtray] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe

Reboot the computer.

After rebooting, when the small "System Configuration Utility" window appears, ignore the message. Put a check mark in that window, then click OK.

===================================================================

I would uninstall your old version of AVG with the AVG Remover and replace it with the free Microsoft Security Essentials.

===================================================================

Do you have any idea what the following programs are? I can't find any information on them. I notice they mostly show on asian forums:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hhukcert02] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhukcert02.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TelRun] C:\Program Files\CTC_Setup\CMUpdater\TelRun.exe

If you don't know what they are, browse to:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhukcert02.exe

and,

C:\Program Files\CTC_Setup\CMUpdater\TelRun.exe

Submit the files to:

Jotti's Malware Scan

and,

VirusTotal

===================================================================

When ALL done, please post a new HijackThis log.

Next,

Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Click Updates > Check for Updates.

When the definition files have updated, click OK.

Click the Scanner tab > Perform quick scan > Scan.

If infections are found during the scan, the number of infections will be highlighted in red.

When the scan is finished, click Show Results.

Make sure that everything is selected, then click Remove Selected.

If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, click Yes.

Start Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again.

Click the Logs tab.

Highlight the scan log entry, then click Open.

When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy and paste it into your next reply.

===================================================================
Download, install and run the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware.

Click Check for Updates.

When the definition files have updated, click Close.

Click Scan your Computer > Perform Quick Scan > Next.

If infections or problems are found during the scan, a list will appear.

When the scan is finished and the scan summary window appears, click OK.

Also, go to "Add or Remove Programs" and uninstall Windows Search. It's a useless system resource hog pushed by Windows Update.

If you can't find it, click Start > Run > type services.msc

Browse to the Windows Search service. Stop and Disable it.

If you still can't find it, Stop and Disable the Indexing service.

Tried removing Windows Search from add/remove programs, but it said could not do. Also there was no disable option in services.msc. Indexing service as well would not allow me to stop and disable. Only option was to start it.

Here is the Super Scan log...

Your HijackThis log is still showing traces of AVG. Be sure to run the AVG Remover. There must not be any traces left or they will cause other problems, especially with your Internet connection. If you did run the tool, please run it again.

i didn't let the first run of AVG remover go through. I had now, but I'm not sure it is all gone. I searched for AVG files in my computer, and I did see the application in ...My Document/Downloads. There are two files, each 2mg. When I ran the AVG remover it automatically rebooted the computer and when the computer came on again it asked again if I wanted to run the program. I said RUN but nothing happened after many minutes so I cancelled out.

I have since run the program again, but when I do it runs in a flash second and then is done. Not sure if AVG is really gone, and if it is not, what to do. It is not listed in add/remove programs.

Also, I downloaded newest version of Skype and that opens and works fine now.

Re Outlook, now when I click to open it from the start menu, the computer freezes up (I can move the mouse around but can't click on anything) and forces me to just turn it off manually and reboot.

Try repairing Outlook.

Go to "Add or Remove Programs".

Click on your Microsoft Office program.

Repair.

Looked in add/remove programs and selected Microsoft Outlook 2007 but the only options were change or remove. No repair.
