LOL---I figured he ran it through the Babel translator----Anyhow, if Zarkari is really dead, then there is reason for celebration. That man was evil personified.

The US military should organize a huge funeral for him out in some big unpopulated field and drop a MOAB on it.

I'm not saying that this isn't one way to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people----and I am not saying that the guys who distribute US taxpayers largesse aren't doing a good deed........All I am saying is that piece in no way gives me any sense of how the Iraqi people feel about us (all polls I have read say that they are not exactly happy about us occupying the country).
Of course they are done to make the Army look good just as most of the liberal media do pieces to make the Bush administration look bad. I could live with that.
Also Linsky the piece wasnt designed to give you a sense of how the Iraqi people feel about us because regardless of how they feel you will always find a way to minimize or belittle whatever military accomplishments (or any accomplishments for that matter) are made in that region that give credit to the Bush Administration.
Hey I just call it like I see it and thats how I see it.

Hey you do---but unfortunately its been difficult to get another view because it appears to be to dangerous for journalists to wander about and give us a feel for what the people are thinking. Give me an example of when I have belittled a military accomplishment? You see Sarge, I have been consistent. Dont expect me to tell you that I think this is a just war and that it will turn out okay---I would be decieving you and I wouldn't want to do that. I will however worry about your health, the equipement you have, the leadership you get, and most importantly, your survival---until we can get you home. When you get home, I will great you with open arms and say thank you for doing your best in a very difficult situation---

Linsky, I appreciate your concerns. What I am attempting to say is I believe without a shadow of a doubt that you (along with many others) despise the Bush administartion so much that you are blinded by the accomplishments that have been made in Iraq. Also its not that you personally belittled any "military accomplishment", its the down-playing of the progress that has been made. Id even go as far to say that if someone was in the Oval office that you wanted in there you would probably overlook all of the negative thats going on and concentrate your posts to defending the individual (IMHO).
What Im trying to say is this...there is so much negativity when it comes to this war flowing through every channel of media possible. It dampers the spirits of everyone who sees, listens and reads about it. Does this mean that we ignore it? No, but we do not have to fuel it. We can say, ok this is wrong how do we make it right. Or this went bad lets not do it again but on the other hand that is going well. One last thing...you said

Well I am giving you another view. Not all Iraqis hate us. Plenty appreciate what we have done and what we are doing. Now you have another view.

Hey---no doubt I have it in for Bush----I don't like to be lied too and I dont like to manipulated like I'm some kind of drone that will follow my lord and master until the burning inferno. I have been around for many years, and I have never seen this kind of decit, crass manipulation , bald faced lies etc. I have watch this administration create a war to meet a political theory---probably the only time in the history of our nation that this has been done.

As far as progress goes in Iraq---well who knows? I do know, and you have to know, that there is no way of stopping this insurgency short of bringing in about 150,000 addiional troops----Can you tell me why the administration refuses to do so---I'll tell you---there aint enough troops to go around. And guess what Sarge, you are the guys who are in harms way because the idiots in Washington didn't listen to the former chairmen of the joint chiefs and a dozen or so other people who said that you can't occupy a country like iraq with 150,00 men.

Hey, I'm out of the service and I did my duty. You are doing yours. We do our duty so that people like me can get out of the service and gripe, complain and give the government as much crap as we want. I consider it my patriotic duty to do so.

I agree with the need for the presence of more troops we definetly can use more help out there.

Japanese hostage killed by captors

Saturday, May 28, 2005 Posted: 6:07 AM EDT (1007 GMT)

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The Iraqi government has confirmed that Japanese hostage Akihiko Saito has been killed by his captors.

Saito, who worked in Iraq for a British security company, was among five foreign workers ambushed by insurgents in the Anbar province west of Baghdad in early May.

The other four were confirmed dead.

An Islamic Web site previously used to publish insurgent announcements posted a video showing Saito before and after his his death.

Iraqi Minister for National Security Affairs Abdul Karim Al-Inzi said there were "significant efforts" by the Japanese and Iraqi governments to gain Saito's release but that "the killing happened before they were able to reach a solution with the kidnappers."

"At the same time, this horrific act will not effect relationships between the Iraqi and Japanese governments," al-Inzi said.

"We reaffirm our commitment to stopping all acts of terror in our country and establish security and stability in Iraq once again
."
