#1306 | I said what I believed, I don't need to say anymore. What was wrong in Biblical times, is still wrong today. It may not be enforceable because of the times we live in, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be law, or should be acceptable. | | Distinguished Member with 2,771 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Cardiff, UK Experience: Intermediate |

But you haven't stated what you believe, you need to clarify. Do you believe that same-sex marriage is a sin, or do you think same-sex marriage should be illegal? As you have recognised these are different issues.
And if you believe same-sex marriage should be illegal, why shouldn't working on the Sabbath. After all, your above statement could just as easily apply to working on the Sabbath as Same-sex marriage | | Senior Member with 1,863 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: A Crypt (Somewhere near Philly Experience: Hmmm, what's this button |

While I understand you believe same-sex marriages are a sin, do you believe that they should be illegal, if so, do you believe that working on a sabbath, which you also consider to be a sin, should also be illegal, if not, why not? | | Member with 65 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Costa Mesa, CA Experience: Intermediate |

What about turning your back on a brother in need?
According to Christians, the bible says all of those things are just as bad as homosexuality....

It's simply not our job to judge them. That is between them and God, and only if someone feels that God is against it, which there is no real proof of, other than MAN MADE books. When I think of God I think of love, forgiveness, understanding... what amazes me is that it's always those that pretend to be Christians that are the most judgmental. Isn't that ironic I don't like to see public displays of homosexuality, but that speaks more of our culture than anything. We all sin. #1320 | Even schoolbooks are becoming a problem. The changes here will be applauded by religious folk....which by the way there is nothing wrong with being religious...but booed at by those who are not religious or have alternative beliefs on same sex marriage. I for one believe marriage should remain defined as between a man and a woman and that's my opinion. Texas Textbooks To Define Marriage As Between Man, Woman
POSTED: 6:47 am EST November 5, 2004
UPDATED: 2:44 pm EST November 5, 2004
AUSTIN -- The Texas State Board of Education on Friday approved updated health textbooks for Texas high school and middle school students.
The endorsement in Austin came after publishers changed the wording in some of the approved textbooks to reflect marriage as being between a man and a woman.
Board members on Thursday argued about alluding to same-sex marriages in the books. Board member Terri Leo said some middle- and high-school health books contain "asexual stealth phrases" that disregard a state ban on recognizing same-sex civil unions. Leo wanted language like "individuals who marry" changed to "husbands and wives."
Critics claimed the books attempted to nullify a Texas law banning the recognition of same-sex civil unions.
Some of the books had used terms like "married partners," but did not define marriage as an institution between a man and a woman. One of the publishers changed its text to include a definition of marriage as a "lifelong union between a husband and a wife."
Board member Mary Helen Berlanga had asked the panel to approve the books without the changes. Another Board member said it can't start "censoring books because we do not like the terminology."
A Texas gay rights official said Leo is injecting the agenda of the religious right into student textbooks. In the words of Randall Ellis, "There comes a time when you need to put your own agenda aside and do what's best for youth."
