Reagan was going to eliminate wasteful spending (and corruption), then he found that category wasn't in the budget!

One slight problem:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politic...f-recall_x.htm
(FULL STORY ^^)

Appeals court blocks Calif. recall
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal appeals court postponed the Oct. 7 recall election Monday in a decision that threw an already chaotic campaign into utter turmoil.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the election cannot proceed as scheduled because some votes would be cast using outmoded punch-card ballot machines. The decision applies to all the recall questions on the ballot, as well as two propositions. (Related item: Appellate court's reversal order)

The court, the nation's largest and most liberal federal appeals court, withheld ordering the immediate implementation of its decision by a week to allow time for an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. It is the same appellate court that last summer ruled reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools is unconstitutional because of the words "under God."

You know what is ironic about this is that the same system was used last November to elect Davis. This decision is one that says blacks and hispanics aren't smart enough to know how to use punch-card ballot machines (they won't say that, but that's the implication of the reasoning by the ACLU, who brought the lawsuit). It is a sad day for the American system of democracy.

Pyritechips,

If you don't mind, there are plenty of anti-war threads--this one is about elections in California, which have nothing to do with the war in Iraq. Please, post your viewpoints in one of those threads

Chris, I don't follow Calif. politics that close, but I do agree that if there are enough sigs on a legal petition, there should be a recall.
However, I do think you Californians should spend less time in the direct sunlight without hats. Couldn't hurt!

Oh? You mean I'm the only one here that's ever made an off-topic post? I think not, but I will leave this thread to its intended topic.

This is the same Court of Appeal that held the Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional. That ought to clue you in as to their political agenda.
