Rep is on the floor...
...protecting his constituents from stupid law and promoting positive legislation for the benefit of the citizens he represents.

Every now and then people ask me to post the website that offers the webcam view of the Wisconsin State Assembly in action.

Here it is: http://www.legis.state.wi.us/nav/asm.htm

Go to the, "Assembly Chamber Video".

Then: "Click here to view live video stream"

I feel I must caution you. Some people have been heard to say that watching a legislative body is as exciting as watching paint dry. You be the judge.

I will try to answer any questions you might have. Of course, that will depend upon my availability and time.

"The page cannot be displayed"

If I was evil I would say this is typical of our government...

"I will try to answer any questions you might have"- that was possibly a mistake.....

1. What (if anything) is being done about how our children killing each other? Is there something we as citizens can do to help the leaders help our kids. The children that seem to be tops in the news (from the school shootings) are the ones that have been picked on. Is anyone trying to find out why these kids are killing? Kids have always been mean to each other, but it seems that it has only been in recent years that they have been paying with their lives for it. Of course the general violence is frightening too, but it seems we've become oblivious to it, but no child should die. We have to be able to do something to protect our children.

2. What about health care (insurance- prescriptions) for the in- between? My father is retired, and he & my mother cannot afford insurance. In May he qualified for medical coverage ,but Mom is just 61 four more years before she'll get any coverage... At something like $500 a month for insurance (they only bring in about $900- ripped off on his pension , but that's another story) they just have to go without or live with collection calls. Next- the prices of prescription drugs. How many elderly go without the medication they need because of the prices? There are programs, but not all the drug companies go through these. I realize that the cost of drugs also covers research, but how can we justify throwing our elderly to the wolves for a buck? Especially when the drug addict next door is on SSI ?????

I really don't mean to put you on the spot , but I honestly want to know what the general public can do to help with these problems. I've just recently grown up (), and was looking for some pointers from someone who knows what he's doing.... Thanks for your time.

I also realize that you probably meant questions about your site, but I thought I'd sneak these in while I had the chance....

Various states have passed laws dealing with child safety. Some will be effective. Some will not. Some are passed only for political purposes.

We in WI have passed legislation to outlaw various weapons on school grounds, as well as within so many feet of a school grounds.

We allow trained dogs to sniff for both drugs and weapons in our schools. We allow locker searches.

I think you posted the question above more so as it relates to school bullies. I imagine some groups are performing studies on the effect of bully activity upon children. Maybe some solutions will be found.

In the meantime, many schools have instituted procedures to reduce the incidence of bullying.

I am one that believes that we can pass all of the laws that we want to, but I question how effective they will be. It will take a greater effort by more members of our society to make a difference.

TY Lissa, Mulder & Wino...

Apparently I was using an internal site. I edited post #1 and it should work now. Please advise.

Looks much like the Senate or House floor on CSPAN. I watch CSPAN and CSPAN2 about 6 hours a week.
Nothing like unfiltered, unfettered news.

Thanks it's working now.

I suppose I was asking for some magic answer to the question "What is happening to our young males." What's making them so angry & what can we do to help them? Is it ADD or ADHD? And have kids just developed this or were we just ignoring it. I don't really expect you to have an answer, just looking for what the government thinks is going on, and possibly the members of TSG....

I'm staying a bit late here to see if you're there.
But since you're not posting, then perhaps you're speaking.

So which one are you, Rep ????

Glad to hear it is working... Yes, there are no easy answers. Personally, I do not believe in ADD & ADHD. There may be a small percentage of children/people that do have a medical issue. But I think too many are diagnosed with it because it is more convenient to do so than deal with broader issues.

Young males? They dominate the news, but from personal experience, girls have become just as increasingly violent! My mother told me of her and her sisters pulling hair and "sissy" fights, I personally witnessed fights in HS between girls that made the guys gasp!

But that wasn't the question.

As Rep may have tried to put it (in my perception) effort by members of society means P-A-R-E-N-T-S.

If I shot my mouth off to a teacher about how they were "wrong" and I was "right" my parents would have set me straight right quick, no matter if I was or not. If I was right, they would have been telling the teacher, point being, as a student, it is not my place. That seems to have gone away (based on teacher accounts).

Overall I see a change in how society thinks in general. Question everything and challenge authority in every sense. Now as adults, we (should) know how to do this with a sense of intelligence and responsibility. When it comes to teens (who know everything) and pre-teens (who think they are teens) they do not posses the...wisdom? maturity?...can't think of a word that fits....to do this at the right time in the right manner.

For example, a cop pulls you over for no perceivable reason, you believe them to be wrong. Do you a) go off on the cop or b) take the ticket, then go into court and fight it. Which do you think a kid would do (and do do!).

We wanted so much to not be like our parents, and raise our children like our parents did that we, in fact, aren't and don't.

K, off the soap box!
