americans do not understand irony!

Therefor why do americans buy d/a books and find them funny (they will sooner or later discover that the joke is on themselves)

Douglas Adams is (was) hilarious. When Eddie, the Shipboard Computer said "Hi" to Ford, or Arthur, or whoever it was, Adams wrote an entire paragraph describing how Eddie worked his little butt off to churn and grind and spit and eventually eject a little piece of paper that said "Hi", I nearly passed out from laughing. What I did do is wake up my college roomate. Such anal-retentive documentation procedures should be so common in my workplace.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.....

it's interesting that only Brits feel that they understand humor......

and so..... that must be why I find so many Brits to be extremely comical
(kinda like Barfly He's such a funny guy......... nothing he says can ever be taken seriously )
