At least Gore got to Vietnam...
While Dubya, protected rich man's son with perks, stayed home, riding old fighter jets around the Texas skies. At least Al Gore can tell you what is is to be near a combat zone.

Tha thread about Dubya sitting on his AZZ in school while the 9/11 planes flew on tells anyone who cares to know that knuckle-dragging Dubya ain't got what his Daddy does: intelligence and B@lls.

Here's to his Dad, and those like his Dad and the damn few of them left

And Clinton?

BTW, what were Gore's assignments?

Some reading material

http://www.awolbush.com/whoserved.html

While most enlistments were for three years, Gore signed up for only two. He was supposed to spend seven months in Vietnam but came home after five, when his unit was being deactivated, so that he could go to divinity school. Others in the 20th, like the commander's stenographer, Wayne Pelter, say they got reassigned within Vietnam.

Pelter says that before Gore got to Vietnam in January 1971, "a piece of paper came across the desk saying he was not to go out on any dangerous missions."

As a result, Pelter said, Gore drew duty no more precarious than that of the "doughnut dollies" - Red Cross volunteers taking coffee and pastries to soldiers. Others who served with Gore have said they were told to protect him.

On May 29, 1971, after requesting "an early out for school," Gore was discharged and headed to Nashville, where he took a job at The Tennessean newspaper and enrolled in divinity school at Vanderbilt University.

Too bad he couldn't figure out how to get the term limitation changed, huh

Draft dodging piece of.............

Speaking of which, I'll pose this, since the mission is going to be hijacking Ed's thread anyway I wonder how it was possible that illegal immigrants from Mexico served in the military, and got on the fast track for citizenship. I saw recently where a bunch of military people received citizenship. Wonder what everyone's take on that is. If they are illegal, how'd they join the military

The US military will take anyone who wishes to be cannon fodder. A cynical person might hold up EdGreene as proof of that assertion.

Not only did Bush not go to Vietnam, he didn't know where it was, couldn't spell or pronounce it - all he knew was it was a bad place to be and he didn't want to go, particularly if it was outside the USA and out from under his Daddy's protection.
