Oh yes now I remember, You must mean in the year 2000 when bush became the only president in the history of the United States that was ever appointed to office without a vote.

what do you mean without a vote.

he just didnt have a majority vote. he won the states in a correct combination so that the electoral votes counted. it was the second time in us history this has happened.

and the first time it had happened a republican won the popular vote and the democrat won the electoral vote.a quick history lesson

i am misstaken it was the

first Grover Cleveland D vs Benjamin Harrison R 1892

electrion in which Harrison won

Actually, the election in 2000 wouldn't have been close if Ralph Nader didn't run. It looks like he's just handed Bush the election again.

Let's see, Bush didn't get the majority, counting of votes was halted, Supreme Court declared Bush winner. Ummm what election?

PS I agree, Nader may save it for Bush!

In 2000 Nader was the "None of the Above" vote - I almost voted for him as the mainstream choices were so frigging bad. He will be the same this go around, and will get the votes of those that wouldn't vote for a Dem or Repb if their life depended on it, or none of the above, but don't think many will 86 their votes this time. The people I've talked with that voted for Nader in 2000 have been ruing that error since GWB "won". Personally, I don't think 2004 will be close, Nader will have little impact, the Dem ticket will win and GWB will return to Texas to again sit at the right hand of GHB and ride his Daddy's coattails into oblivion where he belongs. Regardless of who wins, we will have a bumpy ride for quite sometime. If GWB wins, he will come close or surpass Jimmy Carter in destroying our economy. Just my humble opinion.

That implies that the charges were false. They weren't.

Isn't that the idea?.
I think he lost more votes as people figured out his empty suit candidacy. Granted it should have been Al Gore's election to lose but President Clinton was the real reason he lost.

The dot coms tanked on their own.

The Dow went flat,
The summer of 2000.
What happened?
As gasoline and diesel fuel increased 50% thru artificial market hikes by the Bush buddy oil companies that just happened to back Bush's bid for nomination, the general economy went flat, and recession began as consumers, businesses, and transportation struggled to adjust to the sudden mark up. Bush conveniently used this event to forecast a recession. A little to convenient, perhaps And turned into a self prophesied event Bush couldn't control.
There were no congressional investigations of the oil industry as promised.
The Dow reeled again Jan 1 2001 when Bush took office( may have been a sell off due to the markets lack of confidence in Bush) and again when the Trade Towers were struck.
