No Traditional Celebrations For Saddam's Birthday

POSTED: 10:13 a.m. EDT April 28, 2004

TIKRIT, Iraq -- Wednesday is Saddam Hussein's 67th birthday -- and things are unusually quiet in his hometown of Tikrit.

In years past, there were giant celebrations on Saddam's birthday, organized by his government. Last year, despite the coalition's overthrow of that government, there were still some 200 flag-waving Iraqis who marked their former leader's birthday.

But, Wednesday, there are no signs of celebration.

Shops are open in Tikrit, and people are allowed to go about their business. But, schools and universities are closed -- although one military spokesman says he's unaware of anyone issuing that order.

Saddam remains in U.S. custody since his capture in December. He was paid a visit Tuesday by members of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

His own severed head on a gold platter presented to his torso - as did he receive the two severed heads of his son in laws following their return from exile in Jordan. One of Uday's hobbies was of course that of decapitation of the human head from it's body lest we forget

A hot, locked small padded room, a shot of active rabies, a weeks worth of Ricin Poison-Brand Rice Cakes (TM), and a sharp dinner fork for when he finally grows tired of it all.

Oh, and a big screen TV with theater surround sound playing loops of every recorded speech Hitler made, dubbed in arabic so he could listen to every word

The walls would be lined with pictures of the Kurds he gassed.

Happy 67th, you despot!

EDIT: Oops, hehe...ex-despot. Now your garden-variety con.

If'n Saddam killed 300,000 (as Blair suggested) in 20 tears that works out to 15,000 a year.
It has been suggested that perhaps 10,000 Iraqi civilians have died in the first year of our liberation.
So I guess that the Iraqi people should be 1/3 more appreciative of Bush then they were of Saddam

A hand grenade inserted part way in his rectum with a big speculum then pull the pin?

If that didn't cut the a$$hole out of that a$$hole, it would sure be the best excuse not to have a trial.

Q: "How did that man get a hand grenade"?
A: "Care package, Sir"?

Not to mention the casualties he was ultimately responsible for on both sides of the Iran-Iraq war...

A pin prick every hour. A random needle in every 100 will have some virus strain, not bad enough to kill him quickly, but bad enough to make him sick. And we let an Iraqi that has lost a family member due to him choose the location and make the prick...

plschwartz:

Thats pretty surprising.

From what I've read so far, it seems as if the Reagan administration has a lot to answer for.

However, from what I've read so far it provides no indication as to why the US wanted Iraq to beat Iran so bad, perhaps thats something worth understanding. However, its still pretty shocking.

Obviously, Iraq seemed less of a threat and we perhaps thought Saddam was something he turned out not to be.

It still doesn't change my opinion on the matter. It may have been fueled by the Reagan administration somewhat, but those weren't American soldiers shooting and gassing eachother...Saddam and his military has no blame?
