18 To 26 Years Old? prepare for manditory military service
Make no mistake, this is NOT a draft. If this bill passes, you will be REQUIRED to serve two years.

House Bill H.R. 163 (Senate Bill S. 89) reads, “It is the obligation of every citizen of the United States, and every other person residing in the United States, who is between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a period of national service as prescribed in this Act unless exempted under the provisions of this Act.”

Read the entire story at http://www.rejection2004.com/archives/00000011.htm

I'm sorry if this is not proper message board etiquette. If you like, feel free to paste the entire story in this thread. I do this because I have posted on several message boards and would like others to hear what you think so please consider posting your comments on Rejection 2004 for all to see.

Thank you,

To hell with this stupid notion and the pieces of garbage that came up with this idea!!

Since 911, our government has made us all think we are helpless and subject to this kind of removal of our rights ect.
Which is bull! We are the power> the people!

So let's tell them to stick their rediculous bull where the sun does not shine!

can anyone say facism?

Let's brainwash everyone

Give me a break

does America stand for freedom any longer? No, If we continue to let our own government run over us and the back up and then run over us ect. ect.

Wake up from you slumber folks and see what is going on here!

Mike: just show them all the thousands of people that have been helped at TSG then all the virus and DoS attacks you've had to fight off and they will exempt you...

...but then again they may draft you and make you run their army servers in Kuwait!

This bill was introduced in January, 2003 by Democratic Senator Ernest Hollings of South Carolina and Democratic Representative Charles Rangel of New York. It currently has been referred to the Committee on Armed Services. Funny, this doesn’t seem like something Democrats would usually support.
Pretty scary them Dems are

I could still move there and narrowly avoid it, I'm 27 and seven months. Knowing my luck they'll change it to 18-29 the day I arrive.

You never know with the US government! Better stay there in the UK! Although we'd welcome a new British friend here!

"You want them to fight your war"
This was the title of I think an op-ed piece in the NYTimes. It says it exactly.
I would love to hear from those who favor the war but don't want their kids to fight in it.
I actually support universal service to country for all at HS graduation or 19. It would be a good antidote to the Me first generation. Beside the military it could involve finishing school for drop outs, community service to the elderly and ecological projects ala the old CCC etc and a healthy dose of work experience.

For once, I am in complete agreement with PLS... Someone please wake me up from this nightmare...

I see nothing wrong with a 2 year service. I actually think it would help "settle" some youth out. Just consider it paying back to those that have kept you safe while you were growing up.
